Burma: 28 Days
20 November, 2011 (Rangoon, Burma): There are few aeroplane routes in the world that are predominantly frequented by monks. I discovered one such journey on a recent flight from Chiang Mai, Thailand to Rangoon, Burma. The seats were flushed with faded tones of orange and red, swaying gently with each quiet burst of laughter. Shiny bald heads lines the aisles, shuffling occasionally to greet a familiar face. Passengers and flight attendants alike brought their hands together in acknowledgement of the unusually holy cargo.
